About Us

Treating people like family is the heart of what we do

CHGI_Smilebox_5587021-228hAt Agemark we believe people heal and grow best when they feel like part of a loving family. It’s the foundation for our approach to senior care and it’s also how we choose, train and care for our staff. The strongest families demonstrate these characteristics:

  • Members of all ages respect, encourage and listen to one another
  • Safe harbor, help and unconditional love is always offered
  • Individuality is both accepted and appreciated
  • Together they rejoice, play, learn, grieve, grow and face challenges
  • Relationships are more important than things

By hiring people who share these values, our communities are warm, supportive environments where staff, residents and their families experience a real sense of belonging.

A true pioneer in senior living

Agemark Corporation was founded in 1987 by Richard Westin and Jesse Pittore with a vision of developing exceptional communities that focus on making a positive difference in the lives of seniors and their families. The private company is based in Orinda, California, with satellite offices in the Midwest.

Hastings-228wAgemark began with the renovation and adaptive reuse of historic buildings in locations across the United States. To this day, these Kensington-Evergreen communities are treasured landmarks in their communities.

In 1997, Agemark opened its first CountryHouse¬†residence in response to a growing need for specialized Alzheimer’s and dementia care. Designed by memory care experts, CountryHouse looks and feels like a traditional family home in which remarkably unobtrusive services are delivered by understanding staff.

Astoria Senior Living is the newest addition to the Agemark family, combining the best of our assisted living and memory care philosophies. Designed to accommodate a range of needs, Astoria enables residents to comfortably age in place with dignity and grace.
